Life Coaching – Part 1

There come times in our lives that we need some help in our journey of self-awareness or self-discovery. It can be in different areas of your life, whether your goal is to be more confident or to find fulfillment in a project. It covers such a vast area, stuff you carry around with you, some you might understand, others can be a mystery to you. You don’t know what is wrong, but you feel a void in your life. You might not have gotten the promotion that you hoped for, your family life can be a disaster, you experience rejection, failure, suffering, the list is endless. This is just to give you an idea of different facets of your life, you do not know how to find solutions yourself. You might not know how to get from point A to point B, where point A is identifying a goal and point B is to go after and achieving that goal and that is where a life coach comes in.

Coaching is future-focused and about effective change management. It involves setting goals, having a clear direction of future wants, needs, and desires and discovering ways to achieve such goals.

A life coach can help you in identifying your strengths and weaknesses and in helping you to overcome those obstacles that is holding you back, the hindrances blocking you. Who you should see, however depends on your challenges and what you would like to achieve. You will notice that I prefer to use the word challenge instead of problems, a challenge is challenging you to make certain changes.

What is a Life Coach?

Life coaching is a synergistic relationship between an accredited life coach and a client designed to tap into your full potential.

Just as Olympic athletes wouldn’t think of training without the added insight, objective perspective, and enthusiastic support of an athletic coach, many of today’s most successful business leaders, professionals, executives, entrepreneurs, and CEOs use the services of a life coach to take their lives, careers, or businesses to the next level.

I am an accredited life coach who will be able to address your personal and business coaching needs for both your personal and professional life.

The Power of Life Coaching

Life coaching can truly set a person’s path to personal greatness.  Genuine success, the kind that is fulfilling and naturally comes with abundance, is the result of the right mix of focused, diligent (not necessarily ‘hard’) work, the right goals and the right attitude toward those goals. Unfortunately, these three aspects of the successful individual don’t necessarily occur all at the same time.  Both timing and confluence of forces are important in the realm of success. If you want to be successful the soonest, then the bare minimum is having these three aspects working together to create the right kind of environment and mindset for success.

How can a life coach help?

It’s one thing to have great ideas all the time, but it’s a completely different proposition to translate those ideas into actions. You might have a lot of ideas to get to do certain things or in reaching your goals, but your mind might go in hundred directions at the same time.

Then questions arise like: What path should I take now? What kinds of ideas will benefit me the most at the present time? What ideas should I avoid? What kind of processes should I employ to make my present undertaking work?

These are all massively important questions and at critical junctures, they all serve to shape the kind of work (and success) that you set out to do. But you don’t do it alone. You may have all the ideas, but it’s your life coach who organizes and helps you decide. Your life coach will perfect your thinking skills as well as your decision-making skills.  These things don’t come easily without specific processes bringing them all together. And that’s why it’s so essential to have someone by your side to understand what’s happening from another vantage point so that your life coach) can help you figure out what you really want to happen in life.

What a life coach do

They help an individual or a team in identifying a goal and then develop a plan in moving from point A to point B. In a nutshell the focus is on the present happenings, what the person wants next, and how that gap can be bridged. The objective in life coaching is about helping people and empowering them, to identify the obstacle, constantly coming in their way and to assist them to find motivation, and to pinpoint any resistance to change. Sometimes a life coach specializes in a certain area, so you can get business coaches, executive coaches, health coaches, etc. My job as a life coach facilitates you in finding the answers to your challenge(s), to see options differently, to help in understanding personal values and belief systems and how it pops up in all areas of our lives.

What kind of enlightenment can a life coach bring to the table?

A life coach is an expert at the art of dialogue. A life coach doesn’t just chat with you to pass the time or make you feel good, although you may think this is the ultimate objective.

Listed are things that your life coach can help you figure out:

  • Reasons why you have a particular set of behaviors in specific environments and situations.

  • The blueprint of your personal beliefs and values and how these affect your ability to do or not do certain things.

  • If you are planning to do something new, what your possible routes are and which of these routes are most beneficial to your undertaking.

  • The optimal process for acquiring the best results.

  • Tenable avenues for sustenance of motivation and self-esteem, especially during trying times.

Why the need of a life coach?

Coaching is about what clients want. People want things to be different, therefore they come to a life coach. They are looking for change or they have important goals to reach. They have lots of individual reasons. They are motivated to achieve specific goals: to write a book, to start a business, to have a healthier body. They want to be more effective or more satisfied at work or home.

There is the need to create more order and balance in their lives. Sometimes people want more from life—more peace of mind, more simplicity, more joy. And sometimes they want less—less confusion, less stress, less financial pressure. In general, they want a better quality of life—more fulfillment, better balance—or a different course of action for accomplishing their life desires. No matter what  the individual reason, it all starts with the client.

A life coach can help you to reach your full potential.
